…when the persons against whom they are demonstrating are not present, and don’t give tuppence anyway. It has always seemed to me to be very odd that, when mass demonstrations aimed at Government mismanagement , incompetence or folly take place, they often happen on a Saturday.
It seems to me that its fairly pointless. You only have to look at the result of all that marching against Bliar’s foreign misadventures to know that they take not a blind bit of notice. Yes, it spawned a few reams of print, but the bombs still fell, and bullets flew. And how many died?
Why not bring the place to a standstill on a weekday and demand that they come out of their cosy (and costly to us) Parliamentary club and explain themselves? That would be much more productive, would show them that we mean business and that they are there to represent the entire electorate and not just the ones with the deepest pockets.
